Iced Tea at Home

Blue Angle Iced Hibiscus Herbal Tea from The Secret Garden Tea Company in VancouverWhen the weather gets hot, nothing tastes as refreshing as a cool glass of iced tea. Iced tea is simple to prepare at home. Here’s a quick recipe to use whenever you need to  cool down with when the weather gets hot:

  • Steep 2 teaspoons of tea leaves in 8 ounces of boiling water, for 3 minutes.
  • Add lemon, sweetener, or milk if desired. (Do not add milk to hibiscus tea blends or tea with fresh lemon, since the milk may curdle.)
  • Pour over ice: First remove leaves if using a tea ball or teabag. Or if steeping tea loose, strain into a heat-tempered glass of ice.
  • Enjoy!

You can also blend half iced tea and half lemonade for your own twist on an Arnold Palmer–or muddle some fresh mint and berries for a refreshing cooler.

Any tea tastes great over ice. In addition to Creamy Earl Grey and Blue Angel, a few of our favorites include Peach & Apricot, Jasmine Green Tea, and Creamy Caramel Rooibos.

Tea Story: Friends Forever

Posted on

In our last email newsletter we asked you to tell us who you would share High Tea with. We were touched and inspired the stories you shared! Here’s one customer’s tea story:

Patti and Brenda have known each other their whole lives and their fathers were best friends since 1937. Both ladies love tea and have had many happy tea times together over the years. They even exchanged teacups which belonged to each of their mothers.

The two no longer live in the same city, but sometimes they get out their special teacups, brew up some tea, and have a tea party together over Facetime!

We love how tea can bring friends together, even over long distances. We hope you’ll have the chance to connect with someone special over tea this month!
